Window Air Conditioner
Construction & Working
-It is a plug-In type of unit i.e. all the component is fitted
in a single unit only.
-Evaporator and condenser are fitted at the opposite end and
compressors are fitted in middle.
-In the front part, there is two-compartment one is for supply
and the other is for return air.
-The blower is fitted behind the evaporator to blow air inside the room.
It takes air from the return air section and it passes through the coil then enters the room. The filter is also used across the coil to remove impurity from the air.
-To remove heat from condenser, the fan is used across the condenser
coil. It takes air from the side (Opening in unit) and blows over the condenser coil.
-The blower which is used across the evaporator and fan used
across condensers are run by a single motor, which speed is controlled by control
penal.
-The control penal has three knobs,
One control the speed of blower which run at two speed i.e.
at high speed and low speed
The second knob is for thermostat which is placed in return airside,
from where the air is sucked in a unit from the room. It helps users to set temperature.
The third knob operates flap in the insulated cabinet for ventilation.
Why Window AC installed with tilt?
-No drain pump is there in the unit, so condensate water
will flow through gravity
That’s a region unit that is installed with a tilt towards outside.so
that water from drain pan comes out.
This angle should be 3 to 5 Degree.
Things to be taken care
-Condensor should not be directly exposed to sunlight.
-The gap between the wall and the unit to be filled.
-Suitable power supply to be provided.
-There should be no obstruction on the side of the unit.
